She was born in the mid-west. She started out on the radio. She moved on to films in the 1940's, but by the1950's she decided to concentrate on her family. She did some TV work in the 1960's and had a regular recurring role on a popular 1970's series. Who was this actress?

Thanks, Lavendar

Who'd a thunk it about this person.

I might have been one of the 20th century's first doomsday preppers by building a hideaway in 1946 for fear of a worldwide atom bomb catastrophe.

I was once fired from a movie when it was said I was a Hitler sympathizer and thought Germany would win the war. Also, because I refused to sit down at a table with a black actor for a scene.

Here's a case of ignorance is bliss. Palette was in many classic great films and I will never be able to watch them again without remembering that info.

She had a short career as an actress, but an important one. It wasn't illness, that made her retire. She married a wealthy high powered man and said goodbye to her career on the screen. She was lovely looking and appeared in some very famous classic films, with legendary actors. For 4 years she had an impressive career that took place in the 1930's. who was this lovely looking acress?

Yes pretty Jane Bryan. She made 18 films in 4 years and that was that! She appeared with Flynn and Bette in *The Sisters* with Bette in *Marked Woman* again as Bette's sister and the *Old Maid* with Bette. She was EGR's sister in *Kid Gallahad* .She had become great friends with Reagan during Brother Rat. Jane married a very powerful man, among his businesses were the Rexall Drug chain, Walgreens. Jane and her husband were staunch Republicans and lived in Ca. They convinced Ronnie to switching over to the Republican party and convinced him and backed in to run for Governor. The rest of course is well known. Jane served on many charitable boards, held some influential posts for the Arts. Jane and her husband were lifelong friends of Ronnie and Nancy Davis. Good work Emgee, you're up :)

Emgee, you gotta catch up on your WB 1930's films. Jane was very well known. Noel Coward after viewing her performance in the Paul Muni film *We are Not Alone* called Jane Bryan the finest movie actress today

That's high praise. Watch *Confession* she plays Kay Francis' daughter in this one. *Each Dawn I Die* the Cagney film, as I said 18 famous films.

To continue:

I suffered a heart attack and decided to pursue an acting career.

After succes on Broadway i went to Hollywood in 1940 to co-star in the movie version of the play i was in. Made by a famous director and with an even more famous actress.
