Emgee66
This could be classified as a film noir and so were many of the movies i played in for the next 1o years.

Emgee66
Sorry, no; and if there was an undercurrent in there i missed it but hey, what do i know? Otherwise it certainly fits him, but this actor never became a real leading man, more a co-star or support player.

Emgee66
Good guess, but his first movie was *The Little Foxes* , not as a gangster; this actor's career started post-WW II. in the 50's and 60's he did a lot of television; also had a severe drinking problem
lavenderblue19
This is a little confusing 1941 *Johnny Eager* with Van Heflin is considered to be a noir with homosexual undertones. But it doesn't fit all your clues?
Emgee66
That's right and it's not him. This actor was also active in the Academy and the Screen Actors Guild. Died of liver cirrhosis due to alcoholism.

Emgee66
That's the man! Good work, as per usual. Now who are you going to present?
lavenderblue19
There was a tv show many years ago called *The Eleventh Hour* . Besides Corey's role in *Rear Window* and some other famous roles, it's interersting that when I think of him, theTV show is what comes to mind, instead of those famous films. next This actor started out on Broadway and was in a couple of hits. He moved on to films, although there aren't all that many films, he was in 3 films that are considered by most film fans as classic. He appeared in guest roles on many tv shows. In fact watched him this morning. It was 1 of his 4 guest appearances on the iconic tv show. Who was this actor, that should have made more films?
