MilesArcher
Yes, I am Basil Rathbone. I played a villain in "The Adventures Of Robin Hood" with Ian Hunter as King Richard. I starred in "The Son Of Frankenstein" with Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi. In the sixties I worked with Boris, as well as Vincent Price and Peter Lorre in a few horror movies, and, of course, I am probably best remembered for playing Sherlock Holmes in a series of movies from 1939 through the forties. Good work, Lavenderblue, it's your thread!
lavenderblue19
You were also considered the best fencer in Hollywood! Thanks Miles. I started on the radio.I toured with the USO during the war years. I was a Broadway star and recreated 2 of my stage roles on film. They were huge musical hits. I had my own TV show in the mid 60's and frequently appeared on other TV shows. I was a comic, singer and actor. Who am I?

DownGoesFrazier
I began my long show business career at 16, playing ragtime piano in Bowery nightclubs. With 2 partners, I became a big success on the vaudeville and nightclub circuits. I made my film debut at the start of the sound era and signed a 5 year contract with MGM, I commuted between Hollywood and Broadway through the '30s and '40s. I also brought my buffoonery, malapropisms, and unusual singing voice to radio and TV. As late as the '70s, I could still be seen at Vegas nightclubs or TV specials. Who am I? MilesArcher
Thanks, it was pretty easy. Here's another easy one. I was a newspaper columnist covering the show biz scene. In 1938 I ran a contest among readers to elect the king and queen of Hollywood. The winners were Clark Gable and Myrna Loy. In later years I hosted a TV variety show which featured some of the biggest and some of the smallest stars in the entertainment industry. Do you know me? MilesArcher
What took you so long? Yes, I am Ed Sullivan and what I was referring to as the smallest stars included Johnny Puleo and the Harmonicats and, of course, my favorite, Topo Gigio, the little Italian mouse. Your thread, finance!
DownGoesFrazier
Topo Gigio's career has gone into the toilet since the Sullivan show was cancelled......I'll be back with a new one tomorrow.
DownGoesFrazier
I was on stage since childhood with my parents' comedy act, won a talent contest at 13, and joined the RAF at 17, seeing duty as a camp entertainer. Gaining popularity on the BBC radio's "The Goon Show", I entered British films in the early '50s, appearing in several shorts before making my feature debut. Only one of my first 11 films is well-known in the US, and I had a non-memorable supporting role in THAT film. I was married 4 times. 3 of my wives were actresses. Who am I? MilesArcher
Thanks, finance. Do you know me? I started as a child actor. In fact, I played one of the children in the original stage version of "The King And I". I soon got into TV and movies. I played Tony Curtis as a boy in one film. My big break came when I was cast as a sensitive but rebellious teenager in a film that became a sort of cult classic. In fact, three of the stars of that movie, including myself, would suffer tragic deaths. I found myself being typecast as sensitve teens, so, to change my image, I took on a variety of roles. I played a native American in a western and then found myself playing more ethnic roles, including Mexicans. I played a drummer in a biopic and I was very proud of the rave reviews I received for both my acting and my drumming. My career waned a bit, so I returned to the stage where I had quite a bit of success. It's a bit ironic that what was a good career move ultimately led to my death. One night, after a play rehearsal. I returned home and was assaulted and stabbed to death in an alley behind my apartment. I was only thirty-seven years old. Do you know me?

He was one of the stars Of "Rebel Without A Cause" His co-stars, James Dean and Natalie Wood died tragically, James Dean in a car accident, and Natalie Wood by drowning. He played a native American in "Tonka" and drummer Gene Krupa in the biopic "The Gene Krupa Story". It's your turn now. Make it a good one! RobinsHood
I was born in 1930; One the most most popular actor in the 60's - 70's - Many were sort of afraid of me in the way I did not take any crap from anyone and was some what rebellious at the system, especially with directors and producers. In the mid 70's I became the highest paid actor . Do you know me?
