RobinsHood
Sorry ladies and gents, have been away... So here we go then; I was born in 1925 - poverty was a way of life with my family. I learned early in life that the only person you can depend on is"Yourself"! When I was in the navy W.W.II, I actually got to see the Japs surrender from a distance of about 300 yards. I became a heartthrob in the 50's to movie goers. . I played with every big star of my times back then, and of course I was a big star too, actually I'm still alive so you can say that I still am, regardless if I'm working in movies or not, guarantee you would know me if you seen me... I married, oh let me see....6 times, Wow! I only like young chicks man, you know ? I'm a wild sex maniac, so I like my females young, good figured and looks. Their only competition in looks is me, because lets face it, I'm very good looking, I know it, because I always boast about it, I'm not ashamed to say so. Yeah you could say that I'm full of myself...So what! When I came on the scene in early 50's, I was so hot in looks and popularity that everyone wanted to copy my look; Elvis combed his hair the way he did because of the way I had mine; in the 60's the Beatles put me on one of their album covers. But don't let the looks fool you, I'm a very good actor, and proved it by many big hits of the 50's and 60's with all the top stars of which that includes me... ok so this will be enough for now, do you me...? DownGoesFrazier
I was born and college-educated in the Chicago area, and became a member of a famous improvisational group based in that city. I came to Broadway and went on to win a Tony award in the '60s. I also directed 1 Broadway production. My screen appearances have been infrequent but usually rewarding. I received a Golden Globe nomination for my first film, and had a major role in a film directed by these boards' consensus favorite director. I co-starred in one episode of a well-known multi-episode film, and appeared in an Oscar-nominated film of the '70s that had several interweaving stories. Who am I? DownGoesFrazier
Great job, vf. I intentionally tried to make the clues as vague as possible. Your thread.
visualfeast
Hi, Everybody, I'm dead...at an early age. I was a child prodigy from a prominent family. I was married twice and had four children. I was at ease on the stage as well as on screen. I was in a few money making films of the l940's, b ut by the fifties the roles were less than stellar. I switched careers in the sixties, and was successful. I am also know for another form of performing, which I did all my life. I died while preparing for a comeback role. visualfeast
The comeback role I was preparing for was written by one the the preeminent writers of today. She and her husband collaborate often on film scripts.
DownGoesFrazier
The person I could think of who is closest to your clues is Oscar Levant, though I doubt whether that is correct.

MilesArcher
Do you know me? I was born into a family of vaudevillians. I was on stage from the time I was a toddler. I broke into movies as a child. I was a triple threat, acting, singing, and dancing. As a teen, I appeared in a series of successful musicals, often with Peggy Ryan and Gloria Jean. As a young adult, I continued with musicals, some of them very memorable. However, some may remember me for a series of movies with a four-legged co-star. In my later years, I did a lot of TV work, as well as live stage shows. In my career I worked with some of the all-time greats. I appeared with Bing Crosby, Marilyn Monroe, Vera-Ellen, Gene Kelley, James Cagney, Jack Lemmon, Ethel Merman, Mitzi Gaynor, and Debbie Reynolds. I idolized Buster Keaton, whose early life was very much like my own, and like Keaton, I also had a drinking problem at one time. I will always be remembered for one particular acrobatic song and dance number in a terrific musical. Do you know me?

RobinsHood
thank you Miles, try this one: Born in 1905, but not in this country.. Although I started playing in movies in 1923, it wasn?t until the beginning of the 1940's that people took a notice to me. I wanted to become a bullfighter but since my family moved to the US, I decided on being an actor after being picked as an extra for a big movie of 1923. Lon Chaneys, ?The Hunchback Of Notre Dame? Don?t bother looking it up though, because you will not find my name in the credits; remember I was just an extra... But that started me off and soon after in 1925 started playing with big named actors of the silent era; Clara Bow and Norma Talmadge. I was a dashing latin actor, and many woman after me, but I only maried twice, once for 5 years (2 children) and the second time, 40 years until my death. Any guess to who I am? Here is a little trivia for you as you probably do not know; I?m credited with being the only man to have portrayed both the villain and the hero of a single serial.
