DownGoesFrazier
I was a former model and showgirl, and made my film debut in the mid-'40s. I played leads in a variety of films in the '40s and '50s but am best remembered as a prinicipal female in a few male-centered well-known Westerns. My first 2 husbands were screen actors, and I have a sibling who could be used along with me in the "famous relatives-different surnames" thread. allaboutlana
Below is the revised accurate account of her burned hand: ?I was born in Springfield, Ohio in 1893 the daughter of an alcoholic father who was never home, which led my mother, sister and I to fend for ourselves. To make money, my mother, my sister and I acted in a local theater groups, which eventually led to my going into films.? ?From my first film to my last, my career spanned 75 years and I was good at my craft. Before this Meryl Streep, there was me. I was known for doing what I had to to get into character, even going so far as losing so much weight for a death scene in one movie, that the director and those watching actually thought I was dying. I had to endure the elements of nature more than once. It got so hot during the making of one movie, that when I went to the car for some makeup and pressed my hand to the door handle, the skin on the palm of my hand remained on the handle , even though I had removed my hand. I was fortunate to have worked with many great directors in my long career and blessed to have worked in more than one movie with my sister, and I am known for being very protective of children in one movie in particular.? ?My last film in the 1980s garnered me much acclaim, and the Academy honored me with a lifetime Oscar in 1971 for the body of my work. One costar of mine once said, we did all those stunts and endured all those hardships just for the money. Well, he might have, but as for me, no. I did it because it called for it. Because any good actor with dedication would do it without question. It?s called professionalism, and I?m proud to hold a place in films, where those who see me can enjoy the art of film.? ?Do you know me?? visualfeast
Maybe Lillian Gish?
allaboutlana
?Yes, I am Lillian Gish, and although having a reputation for being thin already, I lost even more weight for the ending of La Boheme. And, it was for the making of The Wind, where we went to Bakersfield, CA and the Mojave Desert, where it was hardly ever under 120 degrees, when I lost the skin of my palm. But I wouldn?t let go of the children in my care in Laughton?s The Night of the Hunter. The Whales of August of 1987 was a great movie to end my long and fruitful career. ? Your turn. visualfeast
Born on the East Coast, I was a successful fashion model in the early forties, then acted on Broadway, then went to Paramount for films. I was considered the woman who couldn't be photographed badly. I married a famous producer was was at an earlier time, married to another favorite actress. Strangely, when I died, she died the very next day. I died of lung cancer.

lavenderblue19
Thanks, vf After my parents divorced, my dad passed away when I was 5 and my mother handed my care over to foster parents. I had a singing radio career for awhile before getting into films.I am an Oscar winner and was nominated a few times besides the win as best actress. I had a TV career. Footage of one of my Oscar nominated roles was shown in a sequence on a TV show that I had a regular role in. When I passed, an interesting fact was associated with my burial. Who am I?
