MilesArcher
Are you Patricia Collinge of "The Little Foxes" and "Shadow Of A Doubt"?
The Lady Eve
Indeed, I am?I made only seven films, but was fortunate to have a couple of classics among them?did you know I was Irish? (Good work, Miles, it?s yours?)
MilesArcher
Thanks, Eve. I knew she was Irish from one of your earlier posts. Now: My father was a director and my mother was a film editor. I acted in some films directed by my father. I also had small roles in films directed by Jean Negulesco and Cecil B. DeMille. Most of my acting work was on television, with some of the shows directed by my father. I have been retired from acting for over thirty years now, but I did contribute to a book about my father and I co-wrote a book about my mother. Do you know me, or do you need another clue? SueSueApplegate
Yes. But I can't figure out how your question came before my answer. This message board is acting very strangely tonight.

DownGoesFrazier
Ms. Applegate seems to be MIA, so here's one I went into films fresh out of high school, making my debut in a well-known post-WW II film. I played juvenile supporting roles in a number of "A" films, then played leads in "B" films. I was also featured regularly in a number of late '50s-early '60s TV series, including a couple private detective series. I died in my late forties as a result of heart problems. Who am I? DownGoesFrazier
No, not William Campbell. A better-known actor.

DownGoesFrazier
No, not Janssen. The film in which he made his debut starred an actress who had won a best actress Oscar more than ten years prior to this film.

Poinciana
Thanks Finance, it was fun tracking down Richard. Well, I've been in a lot of pretty good movies in the 50's and 60's but I can honestly say that any roles that I considered worthwhile were always awarded to someone else. I co-starred with A-list actors and always held my own. I've done a lot of guesting on tv including an outstanding mini-series. Throughout my career I've done much stage work I'm proud to say and got some wonderful early training at the Pasadena Playhouse. I can't help but be immodest when I say that I was considered very beautiful and some people are kind enough to say that I still am. Who am I? SueSueApplegate
Thank you! I love this thread that Judith started. I graduated from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri with a degree in Policital Science, but was encouraged in theater by one of my professors, and once gave a speech highlighting this initial encouragement which eventually sent me to work in summer stock in Stockbridge, Massachuesetts. My Broadway stints led eventually to the big screen where I started a film career a little later than some of my more well-known colleagues. I was often featured so that my comedic talents would enhance many productions. I look great in pearls, and last played a grandmother on a television series in the 1990's. SueSueApplegate
Good guess, Poinciana, but I worked with George S. Kaufman on Broadway at one time, and appeared in many hit television series like The Donna Reed Show, The Beverly Hilbillies, My Three sons, and the Red Skelton Show.
